Why Are Tailor Made Suits Different From Ready to Wear?

tailor made suits

There is a difference between shopping for tailor made suits versus mass-made clothing. Humans are not all made equally the same. Everyone has different traits, interests, dreams, and even body shapes. With all the variety, clothing companies are still producing select sizes to fit millions of men.

Ready to Wear Vs Tailored

Ready to wear is clothing that you can buy at any store. Pre-made pieces made in specific standardized sizes to fit the majority of the population. On the other hand, tailor made suits are made specifically to fit a certain individual.

Both clothing options have their perks. Clothing that is ready to wear have a lower price because they are made in bulk by factories. They might not be the best source of unique style or fit but they are easy to find and conveniently accessible everywhere.

Tailor-made clothing clothing comes with a higher price compared to the average ready to wear options. The clothing has alterations to match the client’s expectations with a personal touch. The design of the clothing can be adjusted by preference and specific requirements can be changed or added.

What should I buy?

There is a place to shop for every situation, it all depends on your needs and wants. In my professional opinion, you can get great quality clothing pieces and accessory items in ready to wear shops that can still suit you well.

If you want a good suit or jacket it might be worth it to “splurge” on tailor-made pieces. The difference in price might be quite significant among ready to wear and tailored depending on the brand and tailor of choice. At times, it may be more beneficial to reconsider because it is possible to find a unique piece that fits with the quality of tailored clothing for almost the same price.

What do we offer at Suit Make?

At SUIT MAKE we believe everyone has the right to dress nicely. Therefore, we provide luxury and stylish custom-tailored menswear at affordable prices. We offer hand-crafted products from start to finish by our carefully chosen partners. Each item is made by hand picking the best quality Italian fabrics.

SUIT MAKE´s producing factory is Enhakkore. A factory selected after careful consideration and with which we have created a very special bond. Established in April 2010 with merely 10 employees, Enhakkore has been carefully creating suits and growing in craftsmanship all these years. As of June 2019, they currently have more than 70 employees working with our partner factory.

The Art of Craftsmanship: The main pattern makers and seamstress at Enhakkore have about thirty to forty years of experience. Up until now, there has not been an official institute for menswear tailoring. The Enhakkore team works just like a family. We pass down our skills onto new generations.

There is no easy way to pass down the skill it takes to master men´s tailoring. For this reason, Enhakkore hires young individuals and train them to continue the tradition. Currently, there are ten men in their twenties learning from the masters.

Traditional but Efficient: As one of the pioneers in the industry, Enhakkore has implemented a barcode system that allows the process to be effective and efficient even if they are handmade. This allows us to provide an on-time delivery which is never late. On average, daily production consists of about 100 pairs of suits that are made from scratch and quality checked.

Handmade Custom-Tailor Studio: Our Tailoring partner, Taeyeon,  opened its doors three years ago. We work with them for specific and special designs different from the ones we carry with our menswear factory. They hold and outstanding knowledge of 45 years of experience.

Taeyeon´s owner started learning all the insights of tailoring at a women’s custom-tailored studio at the beginning of her career. Soon after, she gained the necessary experience of managing her own tailor studio for over 9 years. While managing the studio, she also worked with important brands in the industry like fashion designer Song JungWan and Chill Industries Inc., part of the Samsung group.

Not Just a Premade design: At SUIT MAKE we do not just use premade patterns. We know that the “one size fits all” does not exist as it does indeed not work for everybody. For us, it is important that each piece fits its new owner like a glove. We want you to look and feel your best with clothing that fits you to perfection with patterns specially designed by Elf.

Elf is a pattern-making studio that has been running successfully since 2011. Its owner has extensive experience in the field and started mastering the art of pattern making between 1977 to 1981. The owner worked with different professionals and pattern making studios while managing pattern making departments for national brands and freelancing independent projects from 1982 until 2010.
