Valuable Tips to Feel Better About Yourself

Tips to Feel Better About Yourself

The first month of the year has come to an end. It has probably gone by much faster than you had ever anticipated. This is the time of the year where we can easily get into a slight slump. We start to realize we might have work, kilograms, and even stress accumulated after the holidays. And at this point in time, we might not be so far ahead with the goals we had so enthusiastically set for ourselves at the beginning of the new year. If this is your current mood, here are some tips to feel better about yourself. Hopefully, they will give you a boost to improve your well-being and get back on track to make this year the best year yet.

Set Goals But Take time to unwind

January can be rollercoaster for many. Trying to get back on track. Trying to advance all the work and projects we might have left behind after all the work and social compromises in December. It is important to get things done but if you want to keep being productive and avoid burnout, you should learn how to relax as well.

In order to do so, we recommend that you set some easy goals for yourself every day. Distinguish what is urgent and important versus what can be set aside for another day. Complete all mandatory things early in the day and then take time to unwind. Relax, go to the gym, take a long shower, paint, listen to music, or meditate. Do something that centers you and makes you feel refreshed.

Look Inwards

Start to really look at yourself and make yourself the center of attention. We live in a society where it is important to constantly build relationships with other people. With that in mind, we should also never forget to do some inner reflection. We suggest that instead of spending all your time surrounded by people and new things to do, make sure to spend some time by yourself but also with yourself. A time when you do not necessarily have to do anything. A time to declutter your mind from distractions and learn about yourself in a healthy mental state.

Take some time out of your busy schedule and never-ending to-do lists to allow your emotions to come to the surface. See what kind of feelings you are having and why you might be having them. Are you feeling angry, sad, stressed, easily triggered? Try to get some clearness on exactly why you might be feeling these emotions. Once you are aware of the root you will realize it is much easier to asses other situations in your daily life. Incorporating mindfulness practices like journaling and meditation might come in handy for this self-reflection process but search for whatever methods might work best for you.

Change your Speech and Reward yourself

Another tip to feeling better about yourself is to do things that make you happy. If you are constantly bombarded by chores and must-do things, you will never take time to do the things you wish to do. When you never incorporate activities that get you excited, your motivation will end up decreasing with time. Instead, learn to know your value. You are important and therefore making time and space for those things that excite you is more than necessary. You do deserve to go on that solo trip, buy the expensive drink, or splurge on a massage. Discover the things that make you feel better and learn how to incorporate them wisely into your life. Find a way that allows you to have happiness while not completely throwing the rest of your life out of balance.

Also, keep in mind that when you choose to use your time to do certain tasks you are making a choice. Try to not think of your tasks as “I have to” or “I must”, but more as “I choose to”. If we are talking about for example work, try to think about it as: “I choose to work today because I want to improve in my work and have a great financial balance in the future”. I choose to work on this job because it will help me pay for my dream trip.

These affirmations and similar thoughts will change the way you feel about things. Even when your current situation might not be your ideal one yet. It will give the things that you “have to do” a much more positive outlook. At the end of the day, the battles you choose daily are still your choice. So choose the challenges you prefer to take on over the ones you do not. And stand by every decision you make with a more positive outlook and confidence. Now go tackle February, you got this!
