If your bottle of sunscreen is hidden in the back of your cabinet reserved for beach days, take it out. You are hiding a secret weapon because sunscreen can do wonders for your skin. You have probably heard this statement all your life, “make sure you wear sunscreen”. Growing up, we probably do it because our parents told us to but now that we are adults, we do it because we need to. If you are reading this, you probably want to know the benefits of sunscreen and I have some information to share.
One of the main reasons we apply sunscreen is to protect against harmful UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays can pass through glass, meaning your skin is exposed even when you are indoors. UVB rays are commonly associated with sunburns. We may enjoy the sunshine and being outdoors but the sun is not your friend. Even if you don’t burn easily, it is still important to wear sunblock. It reduces the risk of developing cancer amongst many other things. In addition to wearing sunglasses and hats to shade your body, sunscreen is something that you need to apply every day.
